Pumpkin Patch and Fall Festivities – Blessington Farms

Come enjoy the Pumpkin Patch and Fall Festivities at Blessington Farms. A great outing for the entire family with many Fall activities that include hay rides, giant slides, barrel train rides, pedal cars and animal encounters with camels, Baby Doll sheep, goats and MANY more. We have many NEW activities debuting this Fall including a new walk-thru aviary where you can feed our new Quaker Parrots, Rope Maze and Fossil Dig to name a few….AND brand new restrooms!!! : ) All activities are included in the price of admission with the exception of fishing.
Park After Dark Night Hike – Nature Discovery Center
Friday, September 30th, 2016 | 8:00 PM.
Come learn about the animals that are out and about in Russ Pitman Park once the sun goes down. bring your family for a guided night walk through the park.These night hikes are perfect for adults and children ages 4 and up.
Our night walks begin at the Nature Discovery Center. Programs include an introduction to the animals we are likely to find and the best ways to find them, followed by a guided exploration through the park.
Hand-On Houston: Indigo-dyed Bandanas
Saturday, October 1st, 2016 | 11 AM to 3:00 PM | Houston Center for Contemporary Craft 4848 Main Street, Houston TX 77002.
Please join current resident artist Lisa Hardaway and volunteers from Surface Design Association Houston to create beautifully patterned bandanas with simple resist techniques and indigo dye, one of the oldest plant-based dyes.
Family Day – Asia Society Texas Center
Saturday, October 1st, 2016 | 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
Celebrate this festive holiday through Taiwanese art activities, storytelling, performances, moon-cakes, and more! Held at Asia Society Texas Center throughout the year, Family Days give audiences of all ages the chance to learn more about Asian culture through demonstrations, exhibits, performances, and storytelling. Families may create crafts together, learn about Asian games and holidays, or have their faces painted with Asian-themed decorations.
Naturally Wild Families: Hiking Houston – Houston Arboretum & Nature Center
Saturday, October 1st, 2016 | 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM | Arboretum and Memorial Park.
Fall is hiking season in Texas! Learn basic day hike essentials, the importance of practicing Leave No Trace principles, and discover where in our sprawling city you can find the best hikes. You’ll make your own hiking stick and practice using it while exploring some of the only hills you can find inside the loop. Each family member will take home their own hiking stick, Leave No Trace card, map of favorite local hiking spots, and collectible hiking stick medallion.
Sunday Family Zone – The Museum of Fine Arts,Houston
Sunday, October 2nd, 2016 | 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
Families are invited to drop in and enjoy a variety of games, activities, looking guides, books, and mini-tours of the galleries. Each Sunday offers two storybook circles: one at 1:30 p.m. and the second at 3 p.m.
Toddler Tuesdays: Giraffes Can’t Dance – Discover Green

Discover a morning of fun with story time, crafts and an adventure in tumbling with Safari Tumbling Adventure. With light-footed rhymes and high-stepping illustrations, this tale is gentle inspiration for every child with dreams of greatness. Playdate – The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston
Tuesday, October 4th, 2016 | 10:45 to 11:15 PM.
Children up to 35 months old, and an adult caregiver, are invited to enjoy a multi-sensory experience in the galleries. Each MFAH Playdate focuses on a different work of art. Families sing songs, listen to storybooks, and participate in fun games and activities, all while being introduced to ideas and themes found in art, such as color, size, and texture.
Family Storybook Circle – The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston

Join in a lively storybook adventure that connects art with fun and entertaining stories. Each month, Museum educators read a new storybook in the galleries and lead families on a brief exploration of the work of art related to the story. Meet in the Audrey Jones Beck Building lobby and travel together as a group to the galleries with Museum educators leading the way!
Mommy Mingle – Children’s Museum of Houston

Nature Story Time – Nature Discovery Center

A FREE story time for pre-schoolers and their parents, grandparents, or caregivers. Storytime may involve visits with live animals, puppets, short nature walks in the park, crafts, or songs in addition to age appropriate nature related stories.
Junior Scientists Classes for ages 6 to 10 – Nature Discovery Center
Thursday, October 6th, 2016, | 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM.
Ages: 6 – 10 years old. Our Junior Scientists will explore the natural world and examine a variety of science themes through hands-on investigations and experiments and in lessons enriched with crafts, games, and more!
Cost per Class: $15 Member OR $20 Non-member.
